HIKING & BIKING

Take the gondola into the mountains.

The Haideralm gondola starts 250 metres from the apartment and in summer takes hikers and mountain bikers up to the Haideralm. A popular route is the panoramic trail from Schöneben to the Haideralm high above Lake Reschen.

On the Haideralm, the mountain inn with its large sun terrace invites you to stop for a bite. Mountain bikers start at the top station on the 3-Country Enduro Trail, which winds back down to the valley over about 3 kilometres.

MOUNTAINEERING & HIGH-ALPINE TOURS

The Ortler on your doorstep.

Between the Ortler group and the Ötztal Alps lies an impressive high-alpine world: glaciers, firn fields and peaks well over 3,000 metres, much of it within the Stelvio National Park. You can see the Ortler – at 3,905 metres the highest mountain in South Tyrol – from the terrace table.

The starting point for the big tours is Sulden at the foot of the Ortler, the cradle of South Tyrolean mountaineering. From here you climb the famous trio of Ortler, Königsspitze and Zebru, passing remains of the First World War Ortler front. Staffed mountain huts offer food and overnight stays along the way.

LAKE RESCHEN & CHURCH TOWER

A landmark in the water.

Just a few minutes' drive away, the church tower of old Graun rises from Lake Reschen – one of the best-known photo motifs in South Tyrol. A cycling and walking path runs all the way round the lake.

And as soon as the wind picks up, the lake belongs to kiters and wingfoilers – more on that below. On rainy days the Curunes leisure pool in Graun, with indoor pool and sauna, is only ten minutes away by car.

CULTURE IN THE UPPER VINSCHGAU

Marienberg Abbey above Burgeis.

The Benedictine abbey of Marienberg shines white on the slope above the village of Burgeis. It is considered the highest Benedictine abbey in Europe and makes a rewarding excursion down the valley.

The view is especially beautiful in autumn, when the larches all around turn golden.

KITESURFING · KITEFOILING · WINGFOILING

Wind over Lake Reschen.

Lake Reschen is one of the best wind spots in the Alps: reliable wind on most days, clear water and a stunning mountain backdrop. The kite stations in Graun are about 5 kilometres from the apartment.

01

Kitesurfing & kitefoiling

There is plenty of space on the large lake – for your first runs as well as long foil sessions above the water.

02

Wingfoiling

With the wing in your hands you glide over the water on a foil – a sport that is easy to learn on Lake Reschen.

03

Courses & rental

Several kite and wing schools in Graun offer courses for beginners and advanced riders as well as rental equipment. On calm days you can head out on a SUP.

04

Season

Kiting on the water usually runs from May to the end of September, often into October. In winter the frozen lake becomes a playground for snowkiters.

EVENING MOOD

When the mountains begin to glow.

After a day outdoors, the terrace with its view of the Ortler awaits. And if you want to head out once more: the evening light over Lake Reschen is especially beautiful.
